Job summary

Apple's Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) is seeking a Software Engineer to help design and deliver high-scale backend services for customer-facing platforms in Cupertino. You will own features end-to-end, participate in API design, and optimize performance in a large-scale, secure cloud environment.

The role emphasizes Spring-based backend development, JVM tuning, and collaborative engineering practices across teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years with Java including concurrency and performance tuning.
• Strong OOP, data structures, algorithms and design patterns.
• Experience with Spring ecosystem: Boot, MVC, Security, Data, Cloud.
• Solid understanding of JVM internals: GC, memory, JIT.
• Experience building scalable, cloud-based distributed systems.
• Knowledge of REST/gRPC/GraphQL, API versioning and backward compatibility.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of features from design and implementation to testing and production observability.
• Drive engineering best practices: code reviews, testing, CI/CD, documentation.
• Architect non-blocking, event-driven pipelines handling millions of concurrent requests.
• Contribute to API design and contract-first development ensuring backward compatibility.
