Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend, Distributed Systems) to design and build backend services powering large-scale content delivery and Open Cloud APIs. You will help build and scale distributed systems, data pipelines, and access control mechanisms for the Roblox platform.

You will mentor engineers, influence architectural decisions, and collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to deliver resilient, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building scalable, reliable backend and distributed systems
• Experience architecting and leading mission-critical applications at scale
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages listed (C#, Go, Java, C++, Python)
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related field; Master’s is a plus
• Creative, strategic problem-solver with collaboration and knowledge-sharing mindset
• Team-oriented with ability to work across functions

• Solve a variety of unique technical challenges
• Design, build, test, and deploy services within the Roblox ecosystem with end-to-end responsibility
• Guide the team’s future technical direction and influence engineering
• Set high standards for code quality, architecture, and long-term approach
