Job summary

Palo Alto Networks, Inc. is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to join the Cortex Platform team, focusing on Cortex XSOAR, XSIAM, and the new AI solution. You will design robust backend services in Go and Python, and drive large-scale security workloads across global deployments.

This role emphasizes collaboration, production troubleshooting, and delivering AI-enhanced security capabilities for thousands of customers in a hybrid work environment within California.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building scalable server-side applications.
• 4+ years of hands-on programming in Go and Python.
• 5+ years of experience designing distributed cloud products on major platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure) with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficient in Linux/Unix; experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of distributed computing concepts and production troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Lead full lifecycle development of backend features for Cortex XSOAR on-prem and SaaS (security orchestration platform): from requirements gathering, architecture/design, implementation, testing, deployment, through to production support and maintenance.
• Work closely with peers across different teams and disciplines to shape solutions and integrate with other parts of the product.
• Production-oriented approach, providing real-time mitigation and solutions to production issues.
• Engage with customers and support teams to help troubleshoot and fix issues.
