Job summary

Supio, headquartered in Seattle with a San Francisco office, seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the new Compliance Platform. You’ll design an internal platform-as-a-service to anonymize, de-identify, and pseudonymize PHI/PII while keeping documents AI-friendly, with strong auditing, access control, and reporting.

You will own the founding backend engineering work, shaping the platform from day one and delivering critical data protection for sensitive cases as Supio scales.

Qualifications

• 7+ years backend engineering experience in data-sensitive systems.
• Experience building a compliance/privacy/data-governance platform.
• Deep knowledge of HIPAA and safe handling of PHI/PII.
• Experience with agentic AI development or platforms consumed by AI systems.
• Familiarity with SOC 2, HITRUST, or similar frameworks.
• Strong experience with cloud data infrastructure — AWS ecosystem.
• Security-first mindset: authentication, authorization, least privilege, audit logging.
• Ability to move quickly toward regulatory deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build new features for an internal compliance platform-as-a-service.
• Build anonymization, de-identification, and pseudonymization pipelines for PII/PHI.
• Implement audit trails covering every access to a customer file.
• Build tracking and enforcement for BAAs, contracts, data opt-in/opt-out, and data residency.
• Design access controls with chain-of-command approval and reporting on access.
• Build notification and remediation workflows to detect and fix issues.
• Partner with DevOps and CTO office privacy function.
