Job summary

Condé Nastis seeking a Software Engineer III to design and scale backend systems powering commerce initiatives across multiple brands. You will work with product managers and engineers to build reliable, scalable services for catalog, inventory, styling, and checkout, with an emphasis on reusability and cross-brand applicability.

You’ll own architectures, collaborate with frontend teams, and mentor others while applying an AI-native mindset to improve engineering and product outcomes.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production backend systems, ideally in e-commerce or content-commerce
• Proficient in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript, with scalable services
• Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs for internal and external partners
• Comfort with event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS, EventBridge) for inventory and order events
• Strong database design with relational and NoSQL systems
• Experience designing multi-tenant/configurable systems across brands
• Basic React familiarity to collaborate with frontend teams
• Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Ability to own full development lifecycle: VCS, code reviews, tests, CI/CD
• Collaborative mindset partnering with product, editorial, design teams
• AI-native mindset applying AI to engineering problems

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services powering commerce initiatives (catalog, inventory, checkout) across Condé Nast brands
• Translate business goals into technical designs and collaborate with frontend and other engineers
• Lead architectural discussions, participate in code reviews, and mentor teammates
• Hardening integrations with retail partners and data feeds; ensure reliability and scalability across platforms
