Job summary

PTR Global is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and support backend platforms for a Multifamily application. You will focus on Java microservices, REST APIs, MongoDB, AMQ messaging, Kubernetes, and AWS in a cloud-native environment. This is a contract role with potential for hire, based in McLean, Virginia.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience in enterprise software, strong API design, data modeling, and a proven ability to deliver reliable, secure systems at scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on backend development in enterprise environments.
• Experience delivering complex backend initiatives across microservices, APIs, AMQ-based messaging, data platforms and cloud-native deployments.
• Proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, MongoDB, AMQ, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and SQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support backend capabilities including Java microservices and REST APIs.
• Build scalable, secure, observable backend services using cloud-native patterns and Kubernetes in AWS.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and deliver outcomes.
• Create back-end services with Java, Spring Boot, MongoDB, AMQ messaging, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Follow standards for clean code, scalable design, security, testing, and operational readiness.
• Support production operations through incident triage, monitoring, and reliability improvements.
