Job summary
Pearson is seeking an Advanced Specialist in Software Engineering in Hoboken, NJ. This senior role leads architecture, design, and production support for scalable backend systems, distributed architectures, and cloud-native services on AWS.
You will own major engineering initiatives from discovery through deployment and ongoing operation. The position emphasizes modernization, debt reduction, reliability, and performance improvements while partnering with product, architecture, and security
Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including backend systems.
- Experience as a technical lead or senior engineer on complex initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, scalability, and performance.
- Proficient in a modern strongly typed language (Java/Kotlin/Scala/C#/Go/TypeScript).
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture, design, and production support for complex software systems.
- Develop scalable backend services, distributed systems, and event-driven apps.
- Drive modernization, debt reduction, reliability, and performance improvements.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, security, and operations teams.
- Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
