Nibbana is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build backend services, APIs, and data-intensive workflows powering a climate-tech platform. You’ll handle large, messy datasets and ship production software quickly with a strong focus on reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building production systems.
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals: API design, system design, data modeling, async processing, reliability, and performance.
• Strong production TypeScript experience, with real fluency in strict typing and type-safe design.
• Experience building backend services with Node.js; Fastify experience is a strong plus.
• Experience with Python for backend services, data workflows, or internal tooling; FastAPI experience is a plus.
• Experience building data-intensive applications or systems that process large datasets.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or similar.
• High ownership mindset, strong execution, and the ability to move quickly without compromising quality.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services, APIs, and data-intensive systems.
• Work with large operational and environmental datasets across ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving layers.
• Own projects end-to-end - from architecture and implementation through deployment and monitoring.
• Build reliable systems with strong attention to performance, observability, data quality, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with product, data, and business teams to turn complex requirements into production-ready software.
• Help shape engineering standards around testing, code quality, CI/CD, and operational excellence.
