Job summary

Handy Finance, an Australian fintech expanding into the United States, seeks a Senior Azure Cloud / Backend Developer in Dallas, TX. You will lead design and development of cloud-native backend platforms powering lending products, collaborating with engineers and leadership to build scalable, secure solutions.

You will design and implement RESTful APIs, manage Azure infrastructure, and drive CI/CD practices while mentoring peers and guiding technical direction.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience building RESTful APIs with ASP.NET Core Web API.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server, Entity Framework, and LINQ.
• Deep experience with Microsoft Azure services (App Services, Functions, Storage, SQL, etc).
• Proven experience designing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Strong understanding of IaC (Bicep, ARM Templates, or Terraform).
• Experience designing scalable microservices and distributed systems.
• Strong cloud security and performance optimization skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and mentoring abilities.

Following our success in Australia, we're expanding into the United States and are looking for a highly experienced Senior Azure Cloud / Backend Developer to join our engineering team in Dallas, Texas.

This is an opportunity to lead the design and development of cloud-native platforms that power our lending products, working alongside talented engineers and senior leaders to build scalable, secure, and resilient solutions.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Azure Cloud / Backend Developer, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and optimising our cloud-based backend platforms while helping shape our engineering standards and technical direction. In this role, you will:

• Design and develop scalable backend services using C# .NET and modern cloud-native architecture.


• Build secure, high-performance REST APIs supporting web, mobile, and third-party integrations.


• Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services.


• Develop event-driven and microservices-based solutions that are resilient and highly available.


• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and modern DevOps practices.


• Optimise application performance, scalability, reliability, and security.


• Collaborate with architects, developers, and product teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.


• Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, mentoring, and code reviews.


• Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement long-term improvements.


• Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering standards, cloud infrastructure, automation, and development processes.

What You’ll Bring

• 8+ years' commercial software development experience, with extensive backend and cloud engineering expertise.


• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.


• Extensive experience building RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core Web API.


• Strong knowledge of SQL Server, Entity Framework, and LINQ.


• Deep experience with Microsoft Azure, including App Services, Azure Functions, Storage, Service Bus, Key Vault, Azure SQL, Application Insights, and Azure Monitor.


• Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.


• Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, ARM Templates, or Terraform).


• Experience designing scalable microservices and distributed systems.


• Strong understanding of cloud security, authentication, identity management, and performance optimisation.


• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to mentor and guide other developers.


• Experience working within Agile software development environments.
