Job summary

Seegrid is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to lead the technical direction of our autonomous fleet management software. You will guide distributed backend systems and modern web UIs, balancing hands-on coding with project leadership and mentorship.

Based in Pittsburgh, PA, this role emphasizes code quality, testability, performance, and interoperability, with travel kept minimal. You will work on high-impact features across dispatch, data pipelines, and APIs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Senior-level autonomous driver with bias toward action.
• Mentoring junior engineers.
• Distributed systems design, deployment, and debugging at scale.
• Proficiency in JVM-based languages; Kotlin preferred.
• Experience on MacOS and Linux environments.
• Event-driven architectures and message brokers knowledge.
• REST, WebSockets, gRPC, and AMQP familiarity.
• PostgreSQL expertise; Docker and virtualization experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve distributed fleet orchestration services for task allocation and robot state management.
• Improve high-availability systems for dispatch, path planning integration, and telemetry.
• Implement resilient messaging patterns and scalable APIs for fleet analytics and diagnostics.
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar for architecture and software quality.
