Job summary

Evlo AI, based in Los Angeles, seeks a backend-focused engineer to build and operate scalable services powering web and mobile products. You will design REST and GraphQL APIs, shape data models, and ensure reliability during traffic spikes.

The role is hands-on and part of a small senior team delivering features weekly. You will work with Python/Go/Node.js, SQL databases, and cloud infrastructure to ship robust, low-latency services.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of backend software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in production-scale services.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or Node.js/TypeScript.
• Solid PostgreSQL/MySQL fundamentals: schema design, indexing, transactions.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerized deployments.
• Ability to design clean APIs and own systems end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production backend services in Python, Go, or Node.js.
• Architect REST and GraphQL APIs with strong contracts and versioning.
• Model and optimize data stores with PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and IaC on AWS or GCP.
• Instrument services with observability tooling and drive latency down.
• Lead design reviews and code reviews, setting testing standards.
• Collaborate with product managers and frontend/mobile engineers.
