Job summary

Thomson Reuters Foundation is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, build, and scale backend services and APIs powering a document analysis platform. The role emphasizes data pipelines, API design, and cross-functional collaboration across backend and frontend teams.

You will work with Node.js, Python, or Go, plus SQL/NoSQL databases, containers, and cloud platforms, contributing to architecture decisions and production-ready systems in a hybrid office setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4+ years of professional full-stack development with strong backend focus.
• Proficiency in Node.js, Python, or Go and API design.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, database design, and data modeling.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs for document analysis platform.
• Write maintainable, high-performance server-side code and data pipelines.
• Define clear API contracts and contribute to service architecture decisions.
• Create compositional API primitives to accelerate productionization of insights.
• Build and maintain integrations with third-party services and ML systems.
• Contribute to frontend features as needed to deliver end-to-end.
• Optimize backend performance for data-intensive operations.
• Promote engineering excellence and scalable code practices.
• Improve CI/CD and day-to-day production operations.
