Job summary

Mastercard seeks a Senior Software Engineer within the Open Finance Europe - Connectivity team to design, build, and operate scalable API integrations with financial institutions across Europe. This role sits at the core of Mastercard's API ecosystem, delivering reliable backend services that power open banking capabilities and financial connectivity.

You will own and evolve backend components, contribute to system design, and ensure security and reliability while collaborating with Product,

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based distributed backend systems.
• Strong API development expertise and production support.
• Structured problem solving and secure coding practices.
• Solid understanding of SDLC, testing practices, and secure coding principles.
• Independent ownership and strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and support scalable APIs and backend services.
• Contribute to system design decisions with a focus on scalability, resilience, and performance.
• Deliver high-quality, production-ready code across the full software development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring system stability and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering best practices and standards.
• Implement effective testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Architecture, Security, and SRE.
• Improve observability, automation, and operational efficiency across services.
