Job summary

Sword Health is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and scale AI-driven healthcare platforms. This role focuses on Greek-speaking clients and requires building reliable APIs and data pipelines, with an emphasis on performance and security.

You will collaborate with AI teams to ship robust backend services, mentoring peers and shaping architecture across multi‑tenant deployments, in a fully remote Greece-based setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend engineering, building and running systems in production.
• Strong Python in production, building high‑performance APIs.
• Solid SQL, schema design and migrations.
• Experience with event-driven systems and message queues.
• Strong grasp of design patterns and clean architecture boundaries.
• Experience with cloud platforms, ideally GCP.
• Fluent Greek and English communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and build our AI-enabled backend platforms and workflows.
• Design the APIs, schemas and data pipelines the agents depend on.
• Build for reliability and latency required by live AI agents.
• Extend multi-deployment architecture so a new client ships without forking the core.
• Identify bottlenecks and scale the system as data and call volume grow.
• Drive technical decisions on infrastructure and practices, and mentor engineers.
