Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer within the Customer Experience (CX) engineering group to build scalable AI-powered backend systems.

You will lead architecture, implement MLOps pipelines, and drive real-time data processing with Kafka, while mentoring peers and aligning technical roadmaps with product goals. Ideal candidates have strong Python experience, familiarity with Golang or TypeScript, and a track record with microservices, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of related experience or Master’s with 4+ related years.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one additional language (Go or TypeScript).
• Experience with modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI or Django.
• Experience with microservices, Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development environments (GitHub, Copilot, Cursor).
• Experience designing production-grade APIs and data pipelines.
• Strong collaboration with product and frontend teams in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect highly available, concurrent distributed systems and define API standards (gRPC/REST).
• Design and implement MLOps pipelines for data preprocessing, features, and model deployment.
• Lead real-time data processing with event-driven architectures (Kafka).
• Mentor engineers and promote coding standards across the team.
• Partner with product management to translate business goals into technical roadmaps.
