Job summary

Beacon AI in San Carlos, CA is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain backend services powering our flight safety platform. You will work with senior engineers to implement APIs, data pipelines, and scalable systems that support real-world aviation applications.

You will contribute to production-grade systems, emphasize reliability and security, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust backend features in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building backend systems.
• Experience with Python or JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js).
• Familiarity with designing or consuming APIs and working with databases.
• Exposure to production environments focusing on reliability, performance, and security.
• Strong problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs used by web and mobile applications.
• Work with senior engineers to build reliable, scalable backend systems in production.
• Integrate with internal and external data sources, including real-time and batch data pipelines.
• Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to deliver backend features.
• Participate in code reviews and follow backend best practices and architectural patterns.
• Help ensure system reliability, performance, and maintainability through testing, monitoring, and documentation.
