Beacon AI, based in the San Carlos, CA area, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and deploy autonomous pilot-assistance software for safety-critical aviation systems.

You will own features end-to-end, mentor a small team, and work across Python, C++, and embedded stacks in real-world environments. This hybrid role requires collaboration with hardware and software engineers to deliver reliable, time-sensitive systems.

Qualifications

• 9+ years designing and deploying robotic or embedded software in production.
• Strong C++ and/or Python software engineering skills.
• Experience with real-time or interactive systems for time-sensitive decisions.
• Familiarity with autonomy-related planning, decision-making, or reasoning.
• Hands-on with embedded/edge compute platforms and hardware/software debugging.
• Proven ability to deliver complex systems end-to-end in fast-moving environments.

Responsabilités

• Design, build, and deploy robotic and embedded software powering pilot assistance systems.
• Own autonomy-related features from concept to deployment with reliability and performance focus.
• Write, review, and maintain high-quality Python and C++ code across autonomy and embedded components.
• Integrate software with hardware, sensors, and data pipelines for autonomous decision-making.
• Optimize software for edge compute, manage CPU/GPU usage, latency, safety mechanisms.
• Lead testing, validation, and deployment to meet safety-critical requirements.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction through code reviews.
