Beacon AI is seeking a Lead Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and scale backend systems powering a flight safety platform. You will own backend services, APIs, and data pipelines, balancing hands-on work with technical leadership across product and cross-functional teams.

Ideal candidates have 9+ years of backend experience, fluency in Python and TypeScript, and a track record of building scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of backend design/implementation experience.
• Fluent in Python and Node.js/TypeScript.
• Experience building and operating backend infrastructure.
• Strong ownership of end-to-end systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain backend services and distributed systems.
• Design secure, scalable APIs for internal and external integrations.
• Build and optimize data pipelines for time-series and multimedia data.
• Own backend reliability, performance, and production scalability.
• Lead design discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
• Troubleshoot cloud infra to ensure high availability.
• Take ownership from concept to delivery with cross-functional teammates.
