Brex in Seattle is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale backend systems powering core product experiences. The role focuses on distributed architectures, scalable APIs, and data models that support task workflows across the platform.

You will collaborate widely, take end-to-end ownership, mentor peers, and contribute to AI-driven infrastructure as Brex expands its product offerings.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and deploying full-stack products.
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Java, Kotlin, or Python.
• Experience architecting scalable distributed systems.
• Expertise in SQL and/or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services.
• Familiarity with frontend tech (ES6+, React, TypeScript).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers across the company to build and deliver new features from concept to deployment.
• Take end-to-end ownership of technical problems with attention to UX, data models, scalability, and performance metrics.
• Provide technical leadership by guiding roadmap decisions and mentoring team members.
• Partner with Sales and Support to translate customer needs into effective technical solutions.
• Refine features to deliver high-quality user experiences and improved reliability.
• Design and improve distributed systems, scalable APIs, and workflow automation.
