Job summary

The Weather Company is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to co-design, build, and evolve cloud-based AI-enabled weather data solutions. You will work on a small, high-ownership team delivering geospatial data services across a scalable platform in AWS.

Required are 5-8+ years in software engineering, strong backend focus, geospatial experience, and proficiency in Java or Go. Daily use of AI tools and collaboration with product and operations are essential to drive reliable, cost-aware

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years software engineering experience with backend cloud-based systems (AWS preferred).
• Geospatial data experience or related tooling in production environments.
• Production delivery across full software lifecycle for large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with LLM/AI integration, APIs, prompt engineering, or RAG.
• Proficiency in Java or Go.
• Strong communication skills in a high-ownership environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-scale cloud-based services that ingest, store, transform, and distribute geospatial weather data.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, operations, and external enterprise clients.
• Drive AI adoption, automation, and reliable systems while maintaining security and cost considerations.
• Support multiple concurrent projects (3-5+ initiatives) from assessment through deployment.
• Leverage AI coding assistants daily to enhance engineering workflows.
