Job summary

Dex is recruiting a senior backend engineer to own the core systems for an AI operating system serving data-rich blue-collar industries. You will design and ship end-to-end data pipelines and APIs, collaborating directly with founders to establish architectural standards from day one.

You will build robust data orchestration, ensure data quality and observability, and set up deployment automation in a fast-moving startup context in New York.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and shipping backend services.
• Experience designing workflows and scheduling jobs.
• Ownership of end-to-end data pipelines and reliable data movement.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own end-to-end data pipelines: ingestion, cleaning, transformation, ensuring reliable data movement.
• Develop robust orchestration workflows (Airflow-style DAGs) to manage complex data flows across systems.
• Integrate diverse, messy customer data sources - on-prem databases, CSVs, SFTP, legacy ERPs - into structured, queryable formats.
• Build the APIs and backend services that power LLM-driven insights and decision-making for non-technical users.
• Define and implement standards for data quality, schema evolution, observability, CI/CD, and deployment automation.
