Job summary

Crusoe is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join the Core Backend team within Cloud Customer Experience. You will help build and operate the engine behind Crusoe Cloud, focusing on fast, reliable services, and a coherent entitlement model that scales with our growing customer base and hardware footprint.

You will design scalable APIs, own the gateway, and contribute to architecture, onboarding, and developer tooling.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development experience in Go, Rust, Java, or C++.
• Experience designing versioned public APIs (gRPC/REST) and the SDK, CLI, or Terraform provider surfaces.
• Gateway/edge concerns: routing, authn/authz enforcement, rate limiting, quota checks.
• Cloud expertise and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Strong PostgreSQL relational database skills, including schema design and migrations.
• Experience with message queues or streaming systems (Kafka, NATS, Pub/Sub) and patterns for reliability.
• Asynchronous workflows and state machines (Temporal) for provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, microservices, and infrastructure tools.
• Collaborative, mentorship, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable services powering Crusoe Cloud.
• Own and evolve the API gateway fronting all resource management traffic.
• Build the notification and eventing backbone with delivery guarantees.
• Evolve quota and entitlement system into a first‑class product surface.
• Reduce time‑to‑first‑GPU by hardening onboarding, provisioning, and identity flows.
• Extend the resource management layer to model new infrastructure offerings.
• Collaborate with product and design to evaluate tools and customer needs.
• Contribute to architectural decisions for reliability and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to building an inclusive engineering culture.
