Job summary

Airbyte is building the runtime that powers production-grade AI agents. This role seeks an experienced backend or platform engineer who has built complex production systems and has hands-on work with AI agents, orchestration, retrieval, or LLM-powered applications.

You will craft the runtime and orchestration layer enabling reliable multi-step workflows and evidence-backed agent interactions. You’ll contribute to routing, context assembly, and enterprise integration, designing scalable systems

Qualifications

• Experienced backend or platform engineer with production systems experience.
• Hands-on work with AI agents, orchestration, retrieval or LLM-powered apps.
• Strong design and implementation skills for reliable, scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Build the Runtime architecture that powers production-grade AI agents.
• Design and implement the orchestration layer converting intent into multi-step execution.
• Create systems for routing, state management, retries, and failure handling.
• Develop entity resolution, context assembly, and connector orchestration.
• Build reusable Skills for business workflows and domain capabilities.
• Coordinate connectors, APIs, tools, and multi-language model workflows.
