Job summary

BairesDev, a global remote-first technology company, seeks a Senior Python Backend Engineer to build the control plane of an AI-enabled system. You will implement durable workflow orchestration, design PostgreSQL data models, and create agent adapters to ensure secure, auditable operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python; Go is acceptable as a secondary language.
• Experience with durable workflow orchestration using Temporal, or a genuine state‑ownership equivalent such as Cadence, Camunda, or Step Functions.
• Experience with agentic system engineering and tool mediation, including plan‑act‑observe‑correct loops and agent adapters.
• Background in context engineering, including structural code retrieval using tools such as Tree‑sitter, language servers, ripgrep, or Git.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and relational data modeling for run state, provenance, and evidence tracking.
• Advanced proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Build the harness control plane and backend services using Python, including workflows, the harness API, and agent adapters.
• Implement durable workflow orchestration using Temporal, including retries, pause/resume, human approval gates, and fan-out/fan-in patterns.
• Build agent adapters and tool mediation through an MCP gateway, ensuring agents propose actions without direct access to credentials.
• Compile minimal, task‑specific context using structural code retrieval rather than accumulating unnecessary context.
• Design PostgreSQL data models for run state, policy versions, evidence indexes, and provenance chains.

Senior Python Backend Engineer at BairesDev

In this role, you'll build the control plane of a system that writes and fixes its own code, the part that decides what happens next, tracks every run, and talks to the AI models. Working with durable workflow orchestration, you'll keep the workflow engine firmly in charge and the AI subordinate to it, never the other way around. This is your opportunity to bring real architectural instinct to agentic system design, building infrastructure where AI proposes actions but never bypasses the controls that keep everything trustworthy and auditable.

What You'll Do

What We Are Looking For

• Proven experience with durable workflow orchestration using Temporal, or a genuine state‑ownership equivalent such as Cadence, Camunda, or Step Functions.
• Experience with agentic system engineering and tool mediation, including plan‑act‑observe‑correct loops and agent adapters.
• Background in context engineering, including structural code retrieval using tools such as Tree‑sitter, language servers, ripgrep, or Git.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and relational data modeling for run state, provenance, and evidence tracking.
• Advanced proficiency in English.

Nice To Have

• Experience building verification pipelines, including build, type, test, lint, SAST, and dependency gates as a DAG.
• Experience with model routing and provider abstraction, such as LiteLLM or capability registries.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and Langfuse instrumentation.
• Familiarity with LangChain or LangGraph.
• Experience with cost governance, including per‑run token and budget enforcement.
• Familiarity with Go or Rust.
• Awareness of Cedar or OPA policy engines.
