Job summary

XPander, Inc. is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and scale the infrastructure powering AI agents on the xpander.ai platform. You will own backend architecture and drive end-to-end development, from design to deployment.

The role emphasizes building robust APIs, microservices, and data integrations with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis, with a hands-on focus on performance, reliability, and scalable systems for diverse use cases.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in software engineering.
• 2+ years hands-on Python development.
• Experience building web applications and APIs.
• Experience designing scalable software systems.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Knowledge of performance optimization techniques.
• Experience with AI agents is a plus.

What you will do

Design, develop, and maintain the core backend architecture of our AI-driven platform

What we’re looking for

Minimum of 5 years in software engineering

At least 2 years of hands-on Python, with high proficiency

Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining web applications and APIs

Experience architecting software systems from the ground up

Experience with relational (PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases (MongoDB, Redis)

Understanding of strategies to analyze and improve system performance

Experience building and running AI agents

Nice-to-have

Hands-on experience with AWS for architecting and deploying applications

Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)
