Job summary

Smart State Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join the platform engineering team. You will design, implement, and optimize high-performance Node.js APIs and microservices powering a global, fast-scaling product ecosystem.

You will own core services, drive performance, and shape architecture while collaborating with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to deliver reliable solutions in an office-based environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional web development experience.
• 3+ years hands-on Node.js experience, preferably with Nest.js.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, MySQL, Redis).
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Redis Pub/Sub.
• Strong TDD approach and automated unit/integration testing.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and scale backend services built with Node.js and Nest.js.
• Design and implement third-party API integrations and new platform modules.
• Write clean, well-tested code following TDD principles.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to support high-volume data operations.
• Implement REST, GraphQL, and WebSocket protocols across services.
• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to deliver reliable solutions.
• Apply best practices for microservices, scalability, and performance.
