Job summary

Unity Technologies, SF-based, seeks an experienced senior backend engineer to design and build scalable services for the Offerwall system. You will own modules within a large, privacy‑conscious platform handling billions of events per hour and collaborate with global teams.

You will leverage Golang or Java, modern toolchains (Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana, OpenTelemetry), and AI-assisted development to improve reliability, security, and performance. Equity and incentives may complement base pay.

Qualifications

• Hands-on backend development experience in Golang or Java.
• Experience building and maintaining distributed web services at scale.
• Experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka or other message queues.
• Experience producing and analyzing web service event audit trails.
• Proficient with AI-assisted development tools while maintaining code quality, security and reliability.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design and build new product features, and refactor and optimize existing ones as conditions change.
• Build and maintain resilient backend services that process events at very large scale.
• Take ownership of a key part of a large system, building your domain knowledge with support from the team.
• Take part in code reviews, design discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions that keep the team collaborating and improving.
• Work with product managers and related teams to deliver results that reach users.
• Use AI-assisted tools across coding, testing, debugging and documentation, and explore AI approaches that improve the reliability and efficiency of our distributed systems.
• Apply our engineering principles and bring your own practices to the team.
