Job summary

360 Privacy is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer on the Core team to design, build, and own the backend systems and APIs powering our platform. This senior role offers architectural ownership and a Principal trajectory, with a focus on secure, scalable systems and reliable production-grade services.

You will work on REST APIs, collaborate across teams, and mentor engineers, applying Python and FastAPI in production on AWS.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing, building, and owning production-grade REST APIs at scale.
• Hands-on production experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Ability to make and own architectural decisions with long-term maintainability.
• Proficiency in Python as a primary production language for 5+ years, with FastAPI in production.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL with migrations, security, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions/Jenkins.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering standards.
• AI-native or AI-fluent approach to software engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own production-grade REST APIs and backend services.
• Architect scalable, secure backend systems with clear ownership and maintainability.
• Ensure high performance and responsiveness across the platform.
• Collaborate with frontend teams to integrate server-side logic.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to standards and architecture direction.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Collaborate with Product, Security, and Data teams on backend platforms.
• Make principled architectural decisions in security- or compliance-sensitive areas.
