Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Backbone Network Developer to help plan and scale the Americas backbone network for AWS infrastructure. You will partner with suppliers, internal teams and technology partners to design cost-effective, high-capacity solutions that meet customer demand.

Qualifications

• 10+ years telecommunications industry experience in a similar environment.
• Experience managing suppliers, customers or partners.
• Ability to create complex financial models to evaluate network solutions.
• Procurement and negotiations of dark fiber and wavelengths.

Responsibilities

• Drive overall Network Infrastructure strategy for the Americas backbone.
• Execute strategic backbone network plans and track progress.
• Organize with vendors and internal teams to deliver new backbone capacity.
• Collaborate with network planners to ensure cost-effective topology.
• Work with finance on budget, business cases, deals, and invoicing.
• Monitor telecoms market trends, vendor tech, and deal structures.
• Manage supplier onboarding, relationships, and service quality.
• Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risk, and balance business vs tech needs.
