Job summary

LightFeather is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer specializing in Microsoft Azure to design, implement, and manage secure cloud solutions for federal IT environments. The role emphasizes Azure infrastructure, automation, and security, applying DevOps practices to meet stringent compliance and performance goals.

The position is hybrid with four on-site days in Washington, DC, and one day of telework; requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance or higher required.
• At least 3 years of Azure Cloud Engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of CI/CD experience.
• 3+ years using Terraform for IaC.
• 3+ years using GitLab.
• Minimum 4 years PowerShell scripting.
• 5+ years in Cloud/DevOps/Systems Engineering.
• Strong experience with Azure core services.
• Experience with Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, ExpressRoute).
• Hands-on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) in production.
• Understanding federal cloud security (FedRAMP, NIST, RMF).
• On-site in DC four days per week.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Azure infrastructure components.
• Maintain Terraform templates as IaC standard.
• Develop and run automation using PowerShell, Bash, YAML/JSON, and GitLab pipelines.
• Manage Azure Virtual Desktop environments (host pools, session hosts, FSLogix).
• Monitor performance and troubleshoot AVD users.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
• Apply secure cloud practices (RBAC, Key Vault, IAM, encryption).
• Ensure compliance with NIST, RMF, FedRAMP.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and program staff.
• Support onsite collaboration with stakeholders (hybrid).
