Job summary

GDIT seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS / Windows) to join the NIAID team in Rockville, MD. You will use Terraform to build and automate the AWS infrastructure hosting IIS-based applications, delivering changes through GitHub Actions and AWS CodeBuild.

You will manage Windows Server and IIS environments, migrate on‑prem workloads to AWS, and harden security with the team. Strong scripting in PowerShell and Python, plus NIH Public Trust ability, are required.

Qualifications

• BA/BS and 7+ years IT experience, including 3+ years DevOps or cloud engineering in AWS.
• 3+ years using Terraform to create and automate AWS infrastructure with remote state.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines deploying infrastructure with GitHub Actions or CodeBuild.
• Hands-on with AWS services: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, ELB, Route 53, Systems Manager.
• Experience monitoring with CloudWatch and gathering Windows/IIS logs and metrics.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and maintain AWS infrastructure in Terraform, including modules and state management.
• Deliver infra changes via GitHub Actions and CodeBuild with PR-based review.
• Maintain Windows Server/IIS apps, .NET stack, and TLS certs within Terraform managed environments.
• Migrate on‑prem workloads to AWS and containerize where appropriate on ECS.
• Automate routine tasks (certificate renewal, credential rotation, patching) using Terraform and PowerShell.
• Troubleshoot across IIS, .NET, networking, and AWS services; fix root causes in code.
• Build and tune CloudWatch monitoring, dashboards, and alerts; define SLAs for operations.
• Collaborate with security to harden Windows/AWS resources and review teammates' changes.
