Job summary

Jobtailor in Massachusetts seeks a senior software engineer to drive automated solutions on our public cloud platform (AWS). You will design, implement, test, and deliver features, collaborating with product management to decompose requirements into actionable stories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, computer engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience.
• 4+ years of Python experience.
• 4+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation).
• 3+ years of experience in design and architecture (patterns, reliability, scaling, security).
• Understanding of AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, VPC, CodeBuild/CodeDeploy/CodePipeline).
• Proficiency with Git and source control.
• Experience with DevOps or CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Codex, Claude Code, Amazon Q Developer).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise in design, implementation, testing, and delivery of automated solutions for account management, platform governance, and platform infrastructure on AWS.
• Translate complex requirements into simple user stories for planning and execution.
• Collaborate to estimate feature size and complexity.
• Design, implement, test, and commit features within iterations.
• Contribute to scalable, automated solutions for customers.
• Mentor junior engineers and assist other teams as needed.
• Own quality throughout development, testing, and deployment.
• Research new technologies and perform proofs of concept.
• Maintain and enhance existing systems and platforms.
• Promote continuous improvement and best practices in design, coding, and security.
• Demonstrate ownership from development to production.
• Embody Agile and SAFe principles in daily work.
