Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Lead/Principal Cloud Engineer for a fully remote, ET-hours role. You will own AWS infrastructure, automate provisioning with CloudFormation, enhance observability with Dynatrace, and lead an enterprise cloud team. The contract is long-term and remote-friendly across time zones.

You will design and implement IAM policies, manage backups and disaster recovery, and drive cost optimization while delivering reliable cloud services.

Qualifications

• Lead- or Principal-level AWS cloud engineering experience with hands-on design and operations.
• Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Experience with IAM permissions, SCPs, and trust relationships.
• Linux and Windows server administration and troubleshooting.
• Experience with AWS Systems Manager (SSM) for automation.
• IaC with AWS CloudFormation templates.
• Observability tooling such as Dynatrace.
• Experience with backups, disaster recovery, and cost management.
• Ability to support Eastern Time business hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership within an enterprise cloud engineering team.
• Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure and CloudFormation templates.
• Provision cloud accounts and manage access controls, permissions, and trust relationships.
• Automate infrastructure administration and patching via AWS SSM.
• Maintain and update scripts (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for runtime changes.
• Administer Windows and Linux servers and cloud networking.
• Support centralized backups and disaster recovery readiness.
• Improve monitoring and observability (Dynatrace).
• Monitor cloud spending and implement cost optimizations.
• Perform SRE-style work to improve reliability.
