Job summary

GCI seeks an AWS Cloud Engineer in Chantilly, VA to build, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure for production software. You will implement repeatable automation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver robust cloud solutions.

Required hands-on experience with VPCs, Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Route 53 and NIST 800-53 security controls; Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience configuring cloud VPCs, subnets, route tables, and gateways.
• Experience scaling applications written in Java, Python with Cloud Native technologies.
• Experience deploying code in AWS using Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
• Experience using AWS CDK.
• Experience with AWS Route 53.
• Experience with IaC and serverless cloud technologies.
• Experience securing cloud environments per NIST 800-53 controls.

Responsibilities

• Build, administer, and secure cloud environments in customer and company lab environments.
• Design, develop, test, debug, and deploy new cloud tooling and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team of software engineers, data scientists, analysts, PMs and other engineering groups.
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in production systems and platforms.
• Troubleshoot complex problems and provide customer support for software systems and applications.
• Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Write and update technical documentation such as system docs and training materials.
• Work with engineers to sustain and advance our capabilities.
