Job summary

GCI Incorporated in Chantilly, VA, is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, implement, and test technical solutions for complex problems, including customer-hosted and cloud environments. You will work with Windows and Linux, secure infrastructures, and collaborate with developers to deliver reliable IT architecture.

The ideal candidate has 1–5 years of related experience, scripting skills, VM management, Cisco devices, and the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into solid engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent technical experience.
• 1–5 years of systems administration experience.
• Experience with Windows and Linux configurations.

Responsibilities

• Perform system assessments and security audits
• Participate in the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review
• Work with infrastructure engineers to identify new products and solutions
• Document maintenance for all computer systems and network infrastructure
• Communication with customers is required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
• Familiarity with: VPNs, SIP Trunking, BGP, VLAN, Deployments
• Partner with application developers to solve complex problems
• Work with vendors and suppliers to negotiate, procure, and implement high-performing solutions
