Job summary

State-of-South-Carolina seeks an Associate Vice President/Controller (AVP/C) to provide fiscal leadership across accounting, budgeting, and compliance, reporting to the VP for Finance and Business Affairs.

The role leads a broad set of functions including accounts payable, payroll, post-award management, student financial services, and audit coordination, with emphasis on strategic planning and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.
• CPA credential.
• Seven years of experience in finance, accounting, budget management or related field.
• At least seven years of supervisory experience.
• Experience directing or managing fund accounting and working with GASB and FASB standards.
• Recent experience implementing or optimizing ERP systems, BI tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide fiscal leadership to accounting, budgeting, and control compliance.
• Direct and oversee accounting services, payroll, budget services, and student financial services.
• Lead preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and external reporting.
• Develop annual budgets with the Budget Office and negotiate F&A and fringe rates.
• Oversee audits and serve as primary contact for institutional audits.
• Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting.
