Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Sr. Principal Avionics Engineering Technician for onsite work in Melbourne, FL.

You will research, design, develop, and test avionics hardware and systems with INCDS Cognizant Engineers, focusing on integration and test of flight-critical equipment. The role requires strong wiring, lab testing, and troubleshooting skills, plus the ability to obtain SAP clearance.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.
• Must have experience in fundamentals of flight avionics hardware and related elements; networking standards/protocols (e.g., 1553, Ethernet, RS-232, ARINC-429).
• Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to understand and translate technical instructions.
• Must have experience in production, operation or test environments.
• Must have experience with electrical systems, wire and harness repair and fabrication.
• Proficient with wiring, cabling, and connector work for electronic subsystems; comfortable configuring Linux-based computers and DAQ hardware; basic network setup knowledge.
• Proficient in integration & troubleshooting: connect, configure, verify communications between hardware, software, and networking elements; diagnose and resolve across electronic, mechanical, and software domains.
• Active US Government Secret clearance required (with BI within past 6 years or Continuous Evaluation).
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance within time frame needed.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and test prime mission equipment into laboratories and on aircraft for ground testing.
• Design lab bench test cables and utilize test tools for hardware bench testing.
• Support hardware analysis for maintainability, reliability, safety, and sourcing.
• Create detailed equipment requirements in Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems specification documents for procurement.
• Develop hardware test processes and procedures per company templates.
• Create test procedures supporting equipment qualification testing.
• Collaborate with cognizant engineers in a fast-paced lab environment.
