Belcan in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an avionics engineer to collaborate with a cross-functional team of systems, software, integration, and test engineers to deliver avionics system solutions.

The role supports requirements development, testing, and verification in a lab environment, including on-site testing, script development, and issue troubleshooting, with schedule flexibility during formal test phases.

Qualifications

• Experience with Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Cameo, or similar engineering tools.
• Exposure to requirements development, verification, testing, or MBSE concepts.
• Hands-on experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) at the system level is required
• Strong understanding of Avionics, aircraft Systems, and Subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of systems, software, integration, and test engineers to develop and deliver avionics system solutions.
• Support development, analysis, and refinement of system requirements and interfaces.
• Complete assignments involving Design and Requirement Developments activities
• On-site execution of requirements-based testing, robustness, and Ad-Hoc testing in a lab environment (schedule flexibility is necessary during formal test phases)
• Support requirements development, requirements-based testing execution, test script development, execution of scenario-based, robustness, and unintended function/behavior testing in a lab environment. Flexibility is necessary to maximize test assets utilization.
• Be responsible for the troubleshooting and reporting of issues resulting from development cycles; the candidate will be capable of providing internal status as well as directly reporting to the OEMs as necessary.
• Test script development and execution
• Contribute to verification planning and test development to ensure implementations satisfy system requirements.
• Participate in technical reviews of requirements, design artifacts, and test procedures, while incorporating feedback into your own work.
• Assist with system integration, troubleshooting, and issue resolution in lab and development environments.
