Job summary

Castelion is seeking a Senior Avionics Systems Engineer to define and deliver the avionics architecture for Castelion's long-range hypersonic strike vehicles. This role will integrate flight electronics across power, control, sensors, and flight software from concept through flight test in a fast-paced, hardware-driven environment.

You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, GNC, propulsion, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and to drive system-level

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing and integrating avionics or high-reliability embedded systems.
• Strong background in avionics system architecture, power distribution, interfaces.
• Experience leading development through flight testing.
• Schematic capture and PCB design with Altium or equivalent.
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC, grounding and reliability for aerospace systems.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, LVDS interfaces.
• Hardware integration, debugging, and root cause analysis in lab and flight environments.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and perform technical trades.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the avionics system architecture for flight vehicles.
• Lead integration of avionics subsystems including flight computers and sensors.
• Develop requirements, interface definitions, and wiring architectures.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, GNC, propulsion, and manufacturing teams.
• Lead hardware integration, bring-up, debugging, and flight-test support.
• Define design standards and best practices for high-reliability electronics.
• Support design reviews and system-level trades for performance and manufacturability.
• Develop and execute integration and flight-test plans and document results.
• Mentor engineers across multiple disciplines on avionics architecture.
• Partner with program leadership for technical trades aligned to mission.
