Job summary

Fairwinds Technologies in Oklahoma City, OK, seeks a Safety Engineer to lead avionics/system safety for the E-767 AWACS RSU program. You will drive safety analyses, ensure airworthiness, and coordinate with systems engineering, avionics, software, and flight test teams.

The role requires performing hazard analyses, developing SSPP and SSHAR, and supporting certification reviews along the lifecycle from design to fielding. Active Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 9+ years of System Safety Engineering experience.
• 5+ years supporting military aircraft or avionics programs.
• Experience with safety analyses for aircraft modifications and mission systems.
• Active Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain an Aircraft System Safety Program per MIL-STD-882E.
• Lead System Hazard Analyses (SHA) and related hazard analyses.
• Identify, mitigate, and track safety risks across development, integration, and fielding.
• Prepare System Safety Hazard Analysis Reports (SSHAR) and Airworthiness Basis documentation.
• Support certification reviews and safety-related evidence for flight clearance.
• Review designs, drawings, and test procedures for safety compliance.
• Present safety findings to leadership and participate in risk boards.
