Job summary

Fairwinds Technologies, LLC seeks a Safety Engineer with avionics and military aircraft integration expertise to lead system safety for the E-767 AWACS RSU upgrade. You will ensure compliance with safety, airworthiness, environmental, and cybersecurity requirements throughout design, integration, testing, and fielding.

The role collaborates with systems engineering, avionics, software, flight test, airworthiness authorities, and government stakeholders to enable safe mission system integration.

Qualifications

• 9+ years in System Safety Engineering.
• Experience with military aircraft or avionics programs.
• Airworthiness certification experience.
• DoD acquisition environment experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Aircraft System Safety Program per MIL-STD-882E.
• Lead System Hazard Analyses and FMECA.
• Identify and mitigate safety risks across development, integration, and test.
• Prepare SSHARs and Airworthiness Certification Basis documentation.
• Support safety reviews and risk boards.
• Coordinate with government stakeholders and customers.
