Job summary

AscendArc, Inc. is seeking an experienced Avionics Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and integration of spacecraft enclosure hardware for a groundbreaking satellite communications system. You will connect vision to hardware, build and test it, and guide prototypes toward production.

You’ll collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and thermal disciplines, own designs from requirements to fabrication outputs, and ensure test fixtures enable rigorous validation.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a relevant engineering degree and have extensive experience with aerospace electronics enclosures.
  • Experience with harsh temperature, vibration and vacuum environments DO-160 or MIL-STD-810.
  • Strong CAD proficiency and ability to design test fixtures.
  • Knowledge of connector systems and harness design.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and communicate across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, prototyping, and production roll-out of spacecraft avionics assemblies and parts.
  • Apply mechanical, electrical, and thermal system knowledge.
  • Own a design from requirements to fabrication outputs.
  • Support manufacturing and assembly at the prototype and production level.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams as a mechanical functional lead.
  • Design and fabricate test fixtures for prototype validation.
  • Iterate designs, troubleshoot builds, and communicate across teams.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead thedesign,prototyping, andproduction roll-outof spacecraftavionicsassemblies and parts
  • Apply technical knowledge across mechanical,electrical, and thermal systems
  • Own a design from requirements generation to releasing fabrication outputs
  • Support manufacturing and assembly of flight and qualification hardware at the prototype and production level
  • Comfortable being a mechanical functional lead in multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to design and fabricate test fixtures to support prototype validation
  • Desire to create innovative solutions in highly constrained design spaces
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor’s orMaster’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering,Automotiveor related field
  • 5+ years of experience designing/integrating/testingelectronics enclosures for aerospace or other high reliability harsh temperature/vibration/vacuum environments
  • Knowledge of aerospace connector systems and harness design methodologies using IPC-620 quality standards
  • Familiar with PCB design process and fabrication technologies
  • Experience designing for or performing harsh environment test methods included in DO-160 or MIL-STD-810
  • High fluency in advanced CAD software suites
  • Experienceinstalling sensortest assemblies and operating test equipment for mechanical and thermal design validation, with software scripted control a strong plus
  • Perform mechanical tolerance analysis
  • Skilled in prototype construction using metals, composites, and fabricated materials
  • Familiar with manufacturing documentation and process control
  • Comfortable iterating designs, troubleshooting builds, and solving hands-on engineering problems
  • Capable of independent work with minimal oversight andgood communicationacross engineering and production teams
Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $120,000-190,000. Whendeterminingan individual’s compensation, we consider several factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data, so pay for this role may vary from the amounts listed.
