Job description

Senior Avionics Engineer | Onsite | San Francisco Bay Area

Berkley Hunt is partnering with an early-stage aerospace company developing a novel high-speed flight platform. They are growing their core engineering team and looking for a Senior Avionics Engineer to take real ownership of the electronics stack behind an ambitious, technically demanding vehicle. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to work across the full avionics lifecycle, from architecture and component selection through integration, qualification and flight.

What’s on offer:
  • Ownership of a mission-critical avionics stack at a small, high-calibre aerospace company
  • Work spanning flight computers, C&DH, sensors, RF/telemetry, power and flight termination systems
  • The chance to build and validate hardware for an extreme operating environment, including high-g loads
  • Close collaboration with propulsion, mechanical, software and test teams
  • Meaningful influence over the company’s technical direction as it scales
What you’ll do:
  • Own the design, integration and qualification of avionics hardware across the vehicle
  • Develop and maintain the flight computer, C&DH, sensors, telemetry, RF and power systems
  • Build and run HIL/SIL test environments
  • Lead board-level bring-up, debugging, verification and environmental qualification
  • Work closely with firmware and systems engineers to ensure reliable hardware/software integration
  • Support test campaigns and help take hardware from prototype through flight-ready systems
What we’re looking for:
  • Strong experience in avionics, embedded hardware or complex electromechanical systems
  • Hands-on ownership of electronics from design through test and production
  • Experience with flight computers, power systems, RF/telemetry, sensors or safety-critical hardware
  • Comfortable with hardware integration, board-level debug and system-level test
  • Experience working in high-reliability environments such as aerospace, defence, robotics, automotive or medical devices
  • Someone practical, curious and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy
