AscendArc, a venture-backed startup, is shaping the future of satellite communications. We seek an experienced Electrical Engineer to architect avionics and data handling, design boards, and drive component selection across subsystems.

Fully remote within the United States with occasional travel to Beaverton, OR. 8+ years in space-grade avionics, strong C&DH and procurement skills, and the ability to collaborate across hardware, software and systems teams are required.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 8+ years in high-reliability avionics.
• Hands-on board design from requirements through schematic, analysis, bring-up and test.
• Experience with spacecraft or other high-reliability domains.
• Ability to manage procured electronics units and supplier design reviews.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with hardware, software and systems teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead avionics and C&DH within the Electrical Engineering team.
• Architect avionics and C&DH subsystem, including buy-vs-build decisions.
• Own avionics and C&DH requirements, I/O and channel allocation, and interface control documents.
• Design in-house electronics, including topology, component selection, schematics, and circuit analysis.
• Perform worst-case and derating analyses for a 15-year GEO mission.
• Support PCB layout, board bring-up, debugging, and testing.
• Own procurement of externally sourced units, including specs, SOWs, technical evaluations, supplier design reviews, and acceptance data.
• Partner with Flight Software, Systems Engineering, Power, Battery, and other Electrical Engineering leads.
• Own hardware interfaces across power, grounding, bonding, protection, harness, and spacecraft-level integration.
• Work within the Systems Engineering baseline for requirements, interfaces, and technical budgets while owning avionics architecture decisions.
