Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a Field Support Engineer to provide technical disposition for discrepancies beyond published limits and to support aircraft maintenance and operations. The role includes interpreting DFDR data, developing repair scopes, and issuing engineering authorizations for safety issues.

You will mentor engineers and co-ops, travel up to 25%, and collaborate with maintenance teams to drive timely, compliant solutions across a broad fleet.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering principles and regulations.
• Familiarity with CFRs, maintenance programs and manuals.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Mentors new-hire engineers and co-ops.
• Develops and approves repairs for discrepancies outside published limits.
• Provides troubleshooting for root cause and corrective action.
• Reads DFDR data to determine corrective actions.
• Creates AARD for recurring aircraft discrepancies.
• Assists with major damage assessment and field repairs.
• Issues Engineering Authorizations for safety issues.
