Job summary

Jobtailor in Charlotte, NC, seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a small to midsized software team and drive delivery of scalable solutions for the CTO.

You will advance Availability & Reliability Engineering, build tooling and observability, and collaborate with cross-functional groups to improve technology health while coaching engineers toward higher performance and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in software development, with significant leadership experience.
• Advanced management and leadership experience leading teams.
• Developing expertise and knowledge of software architecture, development lifecycle, and technology strategy.
• English language fluency required.
• Must not require employer sponsorship for work visa status or employment authorization.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small to midsized software engineering team.
• Drive timely delivery of complex, scalable software solutions for the CTO.
• Lead development of Availability & Reliability Engineering capabilities.
• Build tooling, observability solutions, automation capabilities, and operational tooling.
• Partner with engineering, infrastructure, cloud, and architecture teams to identify systemic issues and improve technology health.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and talent development for engineering teammates.
• Translate strategic objectives into executable roadmaps for platform reliability and resilient technology delivery.
• Manage lower-level managers and experienced individual contributors.
• Ensure software solutions are designed, developed, tested, and deployed on time and within scope and quality standards.
• Apply and improve technology standards, governance practices, and engineering methods.
• Provide team performance data and feedback to senior leadership.
• Lead process, tooling, and system improvements using metrics and retrospectives.
• Ensure risk management and adherence to regulatory and policy requirements.
