Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a senior engineer to lead the Autonomous Pilot Integration team. You will write autonomy code, own end‑to‑end development from software‑in‑the‑loop to live test, and partner across autonomy and perception groups to deliver unmanned platform solutions.

You’ll mentor engineers, shape architecture, and coordinate with vehicle integrators and platform vendors. The role travels 10‑20% and requires a SECRET clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level degree or higher with extensive experience in software for autonomous systems.
• Minimum 7 years of related work, with leadership of multiple teams or cross‑program initiatives.
• Proficiency in C++ and Linux, plus embedded systems diagnostics and real‑time constraints.
• Experience with autonomy stacks, simulation environments, and fielded demos.
• Ability to mentor engineers and influence cross‑program technical outcomes.
• Experience with DoD stakeholders, field events, and customer engagements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and field autonomy software onto unmanned platforms including hardware‑in‑the‑loop.
• Lead technical direction, architecture decisions, and cross‑portfolio patterns.
• Mentor senior engineers and drive career development across teams.
• Coordinate pre‑deployment validation, mission readiness, and safety checks.
• Collaborate with external platform integrators and C2 stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement of tooling, build systems, and test pipelines.
