Job summary

GE Aerospace Research’s Robotics & Autonomy Lab advances the future of flight through breakthroughs in robotic manufacturing automation and vehicle autonomy. As a Senior Robotics & Autonomy Engineer, you will invent and mature embodied AI from TRL 1-6, partnering with senior leadership to shape roadmaps and lead cross-disciplinary teams.

Your work will enable adaptive, safety‑bounded autonomous systems across manufacturing and unmanned/crew‑reduced platforms, with a focus on real‑time AI,

Qualifications

• PhD with 5+ years or MS with 7+ years or BS with 10+ years in robotics/autonomy.
• 4+ years of commercial or industrial experience in autonomy/robotics.
• Strong rapid prototyping skills for robust, scalable software.
• Strong grounding in robotics theory and real-time AI systems.
• Willing to travel at least 2 weeks per year.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
• Willing to relocate to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams delivering autonomy solutions.
• Invent, prototype, and mature embodied AI and autonomy from TRL 2–6.
• Build high-quality, scalable software for autonomy components.
• Collaborate with GE programs to align research with business needs.
• Shape the autonomy strategy with internal/external partners.
• Communicate research outcomes via publications and demos.
• Create and protect IP through invention disclosures and patents.
• Grow toward future roles such as Principal Scientist.
