Job summary

GE Aerospace Research's Robotics & Autonomy Lab seeks a Senior Robotics & Autonomy Engineer to invent, prototype, and mature embodied AI from TRL 1-6, transitioning capabilities into GE Aerospace programs. You will partner with senior leadership to shape roadmaps and guide multidisciplinary teams across sensing, planning, and execution.

Qualifications

• PhD with 5+ years, MS with 7+ years, or BS with 10+ years in robotics/autonomy.
• 4+ years of commercial or industrial experience applying autonomy/robotics to real-world systems.
• Strong rapid prototyping skills for robust, efficient, scalable software.
• Willing to relocate to Niskayuna, NY and travel 2 weeks per year.
• US citizenship or ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams in delivering autonomy solutions for manufacturing and vehicle/mission autonomy.
• Invent, prototype, and mature embodied AI and autonomy from TRL 2–6.
• Build high-quality, scalable software using modern tools and practices.
• Collaborate with GE Aerospace programs to align research with business needs.
• Shape the autonomy strategy with other Autonomous Systems experts.
• Communicate research outcomes via publications, reviews, and demos.
• Create and protect IP through invention disclosures and patents.
• Grow as a technical leader toward Principal Scientist or technical manager.
