Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Lead Autonomy Robotics Engineer to advance autonomous execution across a portfolio of unmanned aerial vehicles. You will design and implement robust autonomy software, lead system integration, and guide a team of engineers in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes state-of-the-art algorithms, GPS-denied capabilities, and advanced control methods. Occasional travel and ITAR/EAR compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering or related field (required).
• 8–12 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience implementing state-of-the-art algorithms on real hardware; SWAP devices a plus.
• Solid software engineering with focus on modularity, portability and testability.

Responsibilities

• Deliver well-architected, functionally complete, and rigorously tested research products.
• Develop autonomy algorithms for planning and control in dynamic environments for single or multi-vehicle operations.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead project activities where appropriate.
• Travel within the Continental U.S. up to 30% may be required.
